Fremont July 4th To Include ‘Porch Parade’ & Patriotic Flyover

FREMONT, CA —Ready to give your home a patriotic makeover, Fremont? July 4th celebrations are a-changin’ for 2020.

While a family-friendly, July 4th parade served as a holiday highlight in Fremont since 1999, it was canceled this year due to coronavirus concerns. Taking its place: a “Porch Parade.”

Numerous Bay Area cities are taking their Independence Day festivities online or scrapping events altogether. Fremont organizers, meanwhile, are planning a citywide “Porch Parade”and contest for the best decked-out homes and storefronts, coupled with the return of the California Beech Boys and Commemorative Air Force flyover.

Fremont residents, along with shop owners, are encouraged to go all out with red, white and blue and decorate their houses, porches, yards and windows. Locals then can submit their patriotic properties for the “Best Porch and Neighborhood Decoration Contest.”
