BLISSFIELD — The Blissfield Model Railroad Club will open its doors to the public for the final time this weekend during its 2021-22 schedule of open houses and layout tours this weekend.

The railroad club, 109 E. Adrian St. (U.S. 223), near downtown Blissfield, is a 2,300-square-foot model train display across three different levels of the Chesapeake and Ohio and Clinchfield railroads in Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia and Tennessee in the Appalachian Mountains. All model train engines will be operating on their tracks from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, April 23 and 24. Visitors are welcome to drop in anytime during those hours. Reservations are not required.

While admission is free, donations to the club’s layout maintenance fund is appreciated.

The club is on one level and is handicap accessible. A large steam engine sign is visible to motorists traveling along U.S. 223. Parking is directly in front of the building with overflow parking behind the clubhouse along North Lane Street.

The model railroad club will bring back its layout tour weekends in the fall. The club’s monthly open house schedule is from September through April, and it usually offers two open house weekends in November and December for the holidays.

Those with questions can call the club at 517-486-0404. If there is no answer, leave a message with a return telephone number and a club member will return the call.
