Faithbook: 5 Tips for Scrapbooking Your Spiritual Legacy

0

Mistakes and experience are two of the things that often help us to learn lessons in life–the same is true in Faithbooking. Other tips come from listening to the advice of scrapbookers along the Faithbooking journey. I pray that these five quick tips will help you as they have helped me.

  1. Focus on one project at a time. It’s easy to get excited about this layout and that layout and even more layouts. It’s easy to find yourself running back and forth between them, becoming overwhelmed and not getting anything accomplished. Concentrate on the one project and finish the layout. Then put it away before you work on the next one.
  2. Place only one layout at a time on your desk or table. Put away anything that you do not need for this project. When you’ve looked through your photos and selected which ones you want for this layout, put all the others away. Do the same when it comes to selecting cardstock, embellishments, etc.
  3. Create a goal for every layout. Ask yourself what you want to accomplish with this page. Do you want to share a special verse that you pray for your granddaughter? Do you want to remind your son of a special spiritual event that happened with your family? Keep your goal in mind and pray about it as you work on your layout.
  4. Do not use older one-of-a-kind photos. When you have an older one-of-a kind photo, do not use it in your layouts. Have a copy of it made then proceed with your layout using the copy. That way if you make a mistake, you still have the original.
  5. Do not cut pictures with decorative edge scissors. This is one of the pieces of advice I heard from different scrapbookers. When they were novices, and full of ambition and zeal, they cropped their original pictures with decorative scissors. Years later many of them say they regret those decisions. Having seen some of those layouts I decided to heed their advice. So now I pass those words of wisdom along to you.

Pray and ask God to guide you in creating a Spiritual Legacy that will touch someone’s life. You may be the one God has chosen to pass on certain stories for your loved ones.

For I will show you lessons from our history, stories handed down to us from former generations. I will reveal these truths to you so that you can describe these glorious deeds of Jehovah to your children, and tell them about the mighty miracles He did. PS 78:3-4 (TLB)
