House of the Week: Minimalist Boston home has smart controls for lighting, locks, music and more

A $1.5 million Boston house for sale has smart technology throughout the home to help with lighting, music and more.

“While minimalist in appearance, luxurious details are layered into each element,” the listing states. “Stunning simplicity enveloped in refined materials; this home is an experience to behold.”

Some of the smart technology includes automatic shades, lighting that can be customized and individually adjusted, under cabinet lights, toe-kick LED strips frames, lights under each stair and motion sensing lights in closets. There’s also a Ring camera and technology to incorporate Alexa throughout the house.

“It’s not just technology for innovations’ sake, but really a design feature for convenience,” the owner and builder said in a statement. “For example, the bathroom light and fan are activated by a motion sensor, turning on automatically when one enters the room.”

The two-bedroom, three-bath is 1,511 square-feet and located at 22 Parker St. in Boston.

The first level has a “sleek kitchen that lavishes with every amenity” and an open layout concept that “extends from the living room to a capacious private patio that incorporates the outdoors,” according to the listing.

The second level “utilizes enormous frameless interior glass to curate the sense of a floating loft, hosting a king-sized main bedroom flanked by a spa-like full bath.” There are also hidden partition walls for a guest suite or rooftop lounge “that steps out to a massive deck with glimmering views.”

Although it is designed for a minimalist style, it also has storage.

“Minimalism is not the opposite of practical, and it doesn’t have to come at the expense of storage,” the owner and builder said in a statement. “We visited many contemporary homes that prioritized design over function, and many that creatively solved these issues. We adopted many of the clever ideas.”

This includes an appliance garage in the kitchen to hide daily equipment and cabinets with smart organization “to keep everything within reach.”

Other features include a ChargePoint and fireplace.
