The Original Scrub Daddy – A Review

Not long ago, I received a box of goodies from CleanHQ to try out and review. It’s been a while now that I’ve been using the Scrub Daddy and I must say that I’m very pleasantly surprised – This is actually one of those rare products that does exactly what it claims to do. In my Scrub Daddy review, I aimed to test out the product’s longevity, durability and of course, how well it actually cleans.

I must say, I was sceptical at first; the box made such outlandish (!) claims:

This scrubber could apparently turn into a soft, gentle scrubber under warm water and then revert back to a firm scrubber in cold water. The box also claimed it was scratch-free, gentle enough to be used on my non-stick cookware, dishwasher safe, flexible enough to fit into those awkwardly small glasses and the little smiley face would offer me a versatile grip while the smiley little mouth would effortlessly clean my silverware. Sounded a little too good to be true…

The key area that really stood out to me was the fact that the Original Scrub Daddy scrubber was dishwasher safe – Interesting! I’m always keen on finding solutions that will help me reduce waste in the home, especially in the kitchen. Could this be the answer to my irritating disposable kitchen sponge problem? I’ve tried compostable sponges in the past and found them to be too thin and flimsy. I was not getting enough use out of them at all and found that I could only really use them for lighter cleaning as they were too soft and thin to handle a good scrubbing, meaning that I still had to purchase scrubbers and of course, would still have to replace the compostable sponge itself at the end of its intended lifespan.

Could the Scrub Daddy be just what I was looking for? As it turns out, YES it was!

This kitchen scrubber DOES in fact achieve a soft, spongy-like texture in warm water and firm up to into a nice roughly textured scrubber in cold water, making it incredibly versatile. It IS gentle enough when warm to be comfortably used on my non-stick cookware (it is recommended to test out the product first on a discreet area however, I found it to be perfect for me, especially when warm). And it most definitely IS incredibly versatile and can be run through the dishwasher, making it a wonderfully reusable product. This hot/cold transformation is especially incredible, making it easy to target different types of cleaning; for example, I was easily able to scrub away baked-on grease from my pots and pans and also have a scrubber that would become soft enough for more sensitive cookware.

The Scrub Daddy kitchen scrubber has replaced both my soft kitchen sponges AND metal scrubbers and I’m very excited to say that I don’t see myself needing to buy these items again. I’ve run the scrubber through the dishwasher several times throughout these past couple of months of testing – it comes out brand new each and every time! Should anything ever happen to my legendary new Scrub Daddy, I most definitely will be buying this same item again however, given how durable its been so far, I don’t imagine this will need replacing any time soon!
