When it comes to decorating, orange colour tends to be very controversial – you either love it or hate it.

In colour psychology orange is the colour of joy and creativity and promotes a sense of general wellness, that’s why it’s particularly popular in offices designs and creative spaces, especially if we refer to bright orange.

Our color of the month – orange ochre – is a soft orange very similar to terracotta, which makes it much easier to be used also in home interiors and many other spaces, by itself or also combined with different colors.

An unexpected orange room in Paris

This Appartment is a typical Haussmanian Parisian one with its mouldings, fish bone parquet and a linear long balcony. The whole concept, by Toledano + Architects, was to create a light element that would allow to preserve all the existing historical elements: the answer was a wood ribbon that circulates through the bearing molded walls. Chica Bonita is a Mexican restaurant located in the Sydney CBD, designed by Studio Gram. The interior is an exploration of traditional forms found within the Mexican Spanish colonial architecture, avoiding the clichéd Mexican aesthetic of over the top, over-saturated colour palettes, replaced with the earthy tones found throughout the deserts of Mexico. Discover more here

A colourful home in Barcelona with orange

Designed by studio CaSA, this apartment in Barcelona features an amazing use of colour blocking decor.Heritage elements were preserved or rescued and highlighted where possible, making the most of the high ceilings, decorative features, floors, windows, and doors. Bringing order to the space, the architects decided to treat the central area as a colour block that anchors the apartment, painting it a vibrant orange ochre. Discover more here

A Russian café with pops of Orange

And Y cafe is located in Rostov-on-Don, Russia, and designed by Eduard Eremchuk . The architect used custom Tetris-like orange modular furniture on wheels to solve the problem of limited space in the area with lots of universities, and a narrow interior space available. Discover more here

Orange ochre and concrete in Barcelona

Barbara Appolloni’s Shoebox House in Barcelona was reinforced with more than 200 tons of concrete, that was kept raw and in view in all the interior. In fact, the color scheme is largely dominated by a neutral palette, but with some pops of deep oranges and warm browns. Isaac Reina boutique in the heart of Paris was designed by Belgian architect Bernard Dubois, drawing inspiration from diverse historical and cultural references. The interior is distinguished by its geometric lines, with custom furniture in quarter-circle and semi-circle shapes, where each geometric item is covered in natural, terracotta-dyed leather. Discover more here
